SAVE THE DATES… GNA will be hosting the 2024 Lönssuche!

On behalf of John Liscovitz, President:

Attention!!! We need KlM-GNA member volunteers for the 2024 Lönssuche!

Calling on KlM-GNA members to volunteer their time and talent for the 2024 Lönssuche that will take place in the week of October 12-18, 2024! Yes 2024! What is the Lönssuche, you might ask? The Lönssuche is a once-a-year test event of the KlM Association that takes place in the month of October and showcases some of the Association’s top performing HZP dogs. In addition, the Lönssuche includes a Breed Show which is combined with the HZP test result to make up the final score.

In recognition of the 10th Anniversary of the KlM Landesgruppe North America, our parent club in Germany has asked us to host the Lönssuche 2024 in the U.S.A! Top performing KlM from Germany and the US will participate.

This is truly a unique opportunity for our club – KlM-GNA – to put on a spectacular event that will take place at the Des Plaines State Fish and Wildlife Area in Wilmington, Illinois, just south of Chicago. Members and their dogs, judges and others from Germany will be attending this event, which will be a wonderful opportunity to meet and mingle with our German colleagues.  BUT, we need volunteers to help with the event.

Areas of responsibility include:

  • Arranging Hotels, VRBOs or other accommodation
  • Organizing meals, including a festive evening with award ceremony
  • Transportation – from O’Hare International Airport to the hotel, test site, and locally – creative thinking is needed in this area
  • Assisting with organizing and executing the test and breed show
  • Creating an event program booklet – a catalogue of the participating dogs and handlers
  • Helping with tourist activities for our German guests
  • Event fundraising
  • Setting up and staffing a merchandising table
  • Etc., etc.

While we are hoping many members will attend in person, we understand that you may not be able to do so, but any time or talent that you can offer in supporting this unique opportunity is needed!  Many thanks, and I look forward to hearing from you.

New GNA Hunt(s) Added to the 2021 Calendar!

KLM GNA will be conducting an Iowa Pheasant Hunt in the Spirit Lake / Lake Okoboji area of Iowa Nov. 20-22, 2021! The hunt will be in groups on public land. These areas are very large (several hundred to several thousand acres) able to accommodate larger groups. There will also be opportunities if you wish to break off and explore on your own.  The hunting conditions are primarily large high density native grass fields and cat tail depressions.

Also, a second hunt is being considered at this time for December 27-29th pending interest and weather conditions.  See our Event Calendar for more details!

Update Regarding the KlM-GNA Fall Hunt in Pierre, S.D.

KLM-GNA fall hunt in Pierre South Dakota

After strong consideration, we have made the decision to cancel the fall hunt in Pierre South Dakota scheduled for November 4th – 7th. Because of the extended drought and the emergency livestock grazing that was allowed on the public land, there is little cover to hold birds. The club has had a couple of our members visit the area to confirm what opportunities may be available, with the recommendation(s) coming back not having people travel for what will be very little opportunity to enjoy working our dogs.

We are exploring an alternative hunt this year in the northwestern part of Iowa which has good ground cover and encouraging reports from the Iowa’s DNR August road survey. The hunt would be on the numerous public areas around Storm Lake, Iowa with potential dates being November 20th – 23rd, December 17th – 20th , December 27th -30th or that first week in January. Please reach out to me if you are interested so that we can land on a date if there is enough interest.
