Reminder! Weekend training getaway on August 25-27 at Pineridge Grouse Camp

REMINDER: Get ready for the hunting season or HZP at KLM-GNA’s weekend training getaway coming up August 25-27 at Pineridge Grouse Camp in Remer, MN. We will have 160 Acres of fields, marsh and forest at our disposal. Pineridge has homing pigeons available for training (included in your registration). Ducks and quail are available to purchase ($15 for ducks, $7 for quail – pay when you get your birds). You are also welcome to bring your own training birds and if you want to do any dead-game drags you will need to bring your own game. There are freezers available at the camp for storage during the weekend. There will also be some time for clay shooting if you wish to bring your gun and warm up for the season – your dog may not be the only one who needs to brush up.

We start Friday at noon and run through Sunday noon. We will have club members available to help you with whatever you want to work on with your dog. Jerry Havel (owner of Pineridge Grouse Camp and breeder/trainer of English Pointers will give a seminar on training pointing dogs of all ages.  Private training help with Jerry is available for an extra fee. The cost is $300 for each dog/handler team, which includes shared cabin rooms and all meals for the weekend (bring your own alcoholic beverages if desired). Add a family member for $50. If someone wants to attend on Saturday only (no overnight), the fee is $100. There are a few electric hookups for campers and plenty of room for non-electric camping. Please register and pay using the Pineridge Store Events page (scroll down to the bottom of the page).

There will also be a special event appening on Saturday late afternoon/evening at the camp: a Royal Flush Party to kick off the 2017 hunting season. A variety of conservation groups and others will have displays set up, and there will also be an upland gear swap meet that is open to all. Bring that print you don’t have room for, or that hunting vest that didn’t quite work out for you or any other gear you aren’t using and find it a new home!  You will be asked to donate 10% of your proceeds to a good cause. Check it out on Facebook:
